Idealism

Today’s Gospel Text:  When they heard these words, some of the people said, "This is really the prophet." 41 Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "Is the Christ to come from Galilee? 42 Has not the scripture said that the Christ is descended from David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?" 43 So there was a division among the people over him. 44 Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him. 45 The officers then went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why did you not bring him?" 46 The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this man!" 47 The Pharisees answered them, "Are you led astray, you also? 48 Have any of the authorities or of the Pharisees believed in him? 49 But this crowd, who do not know the law, are accursed." 50 Nicode'mus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them, 51 "Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?" 52 They replied, "Are you from Galilee too? Search and you will see that no prophet is to rise from Galilee."
53 They went each to his own house, John 7:40-53

Reflection: There are the various types of ideologists but a majority among them strive to work for that illusive one world, one humanity.

In other words they seek to work for justice and peace in order to achieve the goal of universal brotherhood and a love that is based on compromises in order to achieve the unity of the human race, at any cost.

More so when we see wars and terrorism, religious and social fanaticism then the human heart hopes for a new world order that will achieve such impossibilities; viz. the unity of all mankind.

This is no new concept, if one reads through the history of humanity.  But each generation dreams that they can do it better, may be even learning from the flaws and applying the better principles of life in order to unite humanity.

Yet the flaw remains: Unity for unity sake is a dream that is concept ridden with flaw.  It could mean compromising on the truth, adopting a mindset that is either profit oriented or peace oriented; a peace that is achieved at any cost, even at the cost of compromising on the truth.

They fail to realize that humans, even with the best intentions tend to be selfish, envious, and when in power treat themselves as above the standard of equality they preach.

Anything that compromises the moral or doesn’t stay within the sphere of truth can make a person and his ideologue prosper, but for a little while.

May be 30 or 60 or 100 years!  But not for long can such an united kingdom last, it will manifest itself in all sorts of contradictions and will only result in conflicts and chaos, depending on the determination of the one who rules or the degree of the falsity practiced.

In the gospel passage too we see a clear indication of the divisive voices at the presence of Christ; truth enlightens and confuses the spirit of darkness and those who still choose to remain in darkness end up in chaos.

Prayer: I have seen a limit to all perfection, but thy commandment is exceedingly broad. Ps 119:96
