Logical v/s the Illogically logical

Scripture: While he was speaking, a Pharisee asked him to dine with him; so he went in and sat at table. 38 The Pharisee was astonished to see that he did not first wash before dinner. 39 And the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of extortion and wickedness. 40 You fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside also? Luke 11:37-40

Reflection: How often I have scientific advisors who give me logical arguments on why I should be eating a particular food item or wash my hands or sleep at a particular time and drink a certain amount of liquid or go for a particular system of medicine or certain exercises. These are things we may need to follow if our world is ordered on the world and its principles. They may be logical reasoning’s with scientific backings but are ultimately rooted in well denied and wonderfully camouflaged deep fears of the civilized man and fraught with danger.

But if you, like a good Pharisee, has ordered your life on God then you will never get astonished with the apparently uncultured, uncivilized behavior of Jesus and more so will seek how to imitate him and his liberating Word.

Go not by the scientific mindset rooted in fears but go by the liberated mindset of basing yourself on God’s Word and with his help seeking to clean the inside of the vessel. This will definitively lead to the real health of endurance that leads to life eternal. For even the world may remember you not so much for your long life but for your good life.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to grow in the trust of you so that I may no longer put my trust in the worldly values and wisdom, which is rooted in fear.
