Scripture: The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the
demons are subject to us in your name!" 18 And he
said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I
have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the
power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you. 20 Nevertheless
do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice that
your names are written in heaven." Luke 10:17-20
Reflection: For us
who have not known the greater part of the hidden truth then it is once again
here before us: Who is man’s greatest enemy?
Jesus reveals to us the actual enemy of the human race; Satan the deceiver who keeps deceiving and keeps us bound in the darkness of evil of sin and prevents us from knowing the one true God and the path of eternal life.
Jesus
came to expose him and destroy his work: “the reason the Son of God appeared
was to destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8
Prayer:
Lord, to your humble one’s who have
learnt to keep their gaze on you, you promise them victory over the evil one. Grant
me the same victory over the evil one so that I may gain the heavenly reward
which you promise your beloved. (Rm.16:19-20)
