Scriptures: 47 Jesus saw Nathan'a-el coming to him, and said of him,
"Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!" 48 Nathan'a-el said to him,
"How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called
you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." 49 Nathan'a-el answered him,
"Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" 50 Jesus answered him,
"Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You
shall see greater things than these." 51 And he said to him,
"Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of
God ascending and descending upon the Son of man." John 1:47-51
Reflection: We meet people in life and have an opinion of
them or seek to have an opinion about them. Likewise people too have an opinion
about us. Whatever the opinion, ultimately it could be categorized as good or
bad. Very rarely do we desire that people have a bad opinion about us. In other
words we value what they have to say and many a times we order our lives, our behavior,
accordingly and may even live a life trying to please others.
We bask in the positive feedback
we receive from friends, relatives, office colleagues or people we interact
with in daily life, though many a times it may be exploitative we prefer to
live by it.
Jesus too, who loves us, has
an opinion about us. He invites us to live by his opinion about us and this opinion
of his, about us, is good for us, for our eternal reward is dependent on it.
Prayer: Lord as I wait on
you in silent prayer, speak to my heart so that I may know your opinion about
me and be changed and live according to what you want me to be.
