Cost of Following

Today’s Scripture: The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples; 36 and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!" 37 The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. John 1:35-37

Reflection: Strange, John said; "Behold, the Lamb of God!" The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus.

One would perhaps follow a rich man or an orator or a politician or a known figure but who would want to follow an unknown person and more so a person who is meant for the slaughter. Did the disciples who heard John really know what they were doing when they decided to follow Jesus?

Better still, a man who loves God and taught to do so will do anything for the love of God. One who loves God will do anything to absorb that which is connected to God. Perhaps John has done a commendable job with the disciples.

Here the Disciples were going to follow the Lamb of slaughter and were risking their lives by doing so.

Prayer:  Pour out your love in my heart that I may diligently seek you and your things irrespective of the cost.
