In the Master's House

Today’s Scripture: And when he returned to Caper'na-um after some days, it was reported that he was at home. 2 And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room for them, not even about the door; and he was preaching the word to them. 3 And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. 4 And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay. 5 And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are forgiven." Mark 2:1-5

Reflection: Home is a place to relax at the end of a heavy days work or journey. It is a place one looks forward to meet ones near and loved ones. Wherever one may be and eat and drink, ultimately, it is the home that normally provides the best.

In the gospel reading of today we see Jesus returning to his favorite place where he has also worked most of his miracles. The evangelist informs us that it was reported that he was at home in Capernaum. Whatever be the truth behind the statement, what is true is that he was at home with the crowd that surrounded him.

He fed all those who came with the best food he could ever provide, the manna of eternal life as he preached to them the word of life and he saw immediate growth too as he saw faith. Faith is the seed and the fruit thereof which is pleasing to God and it was visible in that great home of the master.

Prayer: Lord, increase my faith each time I listen to your word.
