Blind leading Blind

Scripture: He also told them a parable: "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? Luke 6:39

Reflection: There are many types of advisors; some give free advice without being asked for, some give learned advices from the things that they have learnt from books and intellectuals, some give practical life advices from the things that they have learnt from life and there are some who advice so as to hide their lack of knowledge and make a fool of themselves.  If you think it is only the last category who are going to be the subject of my reflection then you are wrong. If we advice, how do we do it?

It is when crises invade their way and that too serious ones, it is then, many a time, none of these categories of advisors put into practice what they have taught others. Some then realize that they either can’t achieve their standards or it doesn’t work and some never realize their failures because their goals are ill-advised. “There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”  (Prov. 14:12; 16:25)

Can a blind person guide a blind person?  Yet the reality is this; blind people of all categories are leading blind people and they are heading for the pit.

Jesus came to remove the scales of blindness and his advice is perfect, which we have through his Word in Scripture and he has established his Church which is the bulwark of truth and then we have the great tradition of the holy martyrs and saints who are models of life in the Holy Spirit and above all the promised Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. (Jn.16:13)

Prayer: Open my eyes Lord that I may see.
