Exception to the rule

Scripture: On a sabbath, while he was going through the grainfields, his disciples plucked and ate some heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands. 2 But some of the Pharisees said, "Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the sabbath?" 3 And Jesus answered, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: 4 how he entered the house of God, and took and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those with him?" 5 And he said to them, "The Son of man is lord of the sabbath." Luke 6:1-5

Reflection: We could and often carry the impression that God does not bother about us and he does not understand us. Or we may believe otherwise too but in practical reality the way we go about life is often different and far removed from the belief we affirm in our minds. We may believe that he is merciful and forgiving and yet when we do sin we are so enmeshed in our sin or wallow in self pity, pain, hurt, unforgiveness, selfish accumulation and greed, anxiety and worries, etc. that we forget his true attributes or character.Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies; who is to condemn? Is it Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us? Rom 8:33-34 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Rom 8:1

Sin will always remain sin, what is unlawful remains unlawful, what is wrong is always wrong but the exception to the rule is for his children who come to him in sincere repentance to be lead and guided by him.  “But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.” Ps 130:4

Prayer:  Lord teaches me thy ways so that I may never depart from your mercy and love but rather rejoice in your loving forgiveness always and move away from sin.
