Good fruits are rare in humans

Scripture: Jesus said to his disciples:"For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit; 44 for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorns, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil man out of his evil treasure produces evil; for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Lk. 6:43-45

Reflection:  You cannot start a business without an investment (either capital or human). Likewise you cannot produce good fruit without the wealth and treasure of the Holy Spirit in your heart, says Jesus.

Hence Jesus teaches us to seek the daily bread of faith and power so that through the working of the Holy Spirit and with cooperation with him we could produce much fruit.

What fruit is required of us except the fruit of faith working through love; “For through the Spirit, by faith, we wait for the hope of righteousness……. faith working through love.” Gal 5:5-6

Carry the talent or wealth of the Holy Spirit and cooperate; nourished, strengthened by word and Sacraments, you will be the tree that produces good fruit.

Prayer: Lord grant to  me a fresh out pouring of your Holy Spirit and help me to live by your grace and wisdom so that I may produce the fruit of love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self control (Gal. 5:22-23)
