Sacred Time

Scripture: In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. Luke 1:26-27

Reflection:  Days and months have no value in the sight of God and therefore the church shouldn’t be restrictive about days of obligations and timings, etc.  These are man made.  I am sure this sounds good to quite a few and many may believe and practice these erroneous teachings too.

But in the Gospel text we see the Angel Gabriel was sent by God, not at anytime or any place but in a concrete situation and at an appointed time (Gk. Kairos), viz. Sixth month.

Time, moments and days were created by God for the sake of order and not chaos and they are necessary for the community to live, respect and work with one another in harmony. On the other hand God has ordained that they are moments of grace and he blesses those times and places. The Church on sthis very basis proclaims places of pilgrimages and sacred times and seasons and days of obligations for us to draw much from it.

Prayer:  Lord, may I respect what you have set forth in creation and that which you proclaim through the Church.

DD = Dedicated Discipleship:  Come grow in the Lord with us
