The Saving Message

PC Study Bible DataToday’s Scripture: And they went with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it they made known the saying which had been told them concerning this child; 18 and all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary kept all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
21 And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. Luke 2:16-21

Reflection: if one is open to the spirit of God at work in all those who believe then one can expect many surprises with the receiving of the good news

The Shepherds heard the good news of Christ and exhibited great amount of openness and haste. There were told of a savior child, who is Christ the Lord. When they actually arrived they found, in the sequential order, Mary and Joseph with the Child lying in a Manger.

Why was the Child not found in the arms of Mary or Joseph? Was it to communicate the fact that the Child was destined to go it alone and become the bread of life.

Ultimately, he was laid on the Cross; the author of life.

Prayer:  Lord, we adore you for you are Christ the King who became our ransom.
