Scripture: And as Jesus passed on
from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, "Have mercy on us,
Son of David." 28 When he entered the house,
the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I
am able to do this?" They said to him, "Yes, Lord." 29 Then he touched their
eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you." 30 And their eyes were opened.
Matt 9:27-30
Reflection: From our
observation of people we often rule them out as unfit to take up certain
responsibilities. Sometimes we are right in our judgment but many a times we
may have either over estimated or underestimated them. We discover them by
chance and are surprised at such expressed abilities.
Who
can see? Surely our answer could be all those who have sound eyes? Who has the ability to see? Again, all those
who have sound eyes.
In
the Gospel reading who has really seen? The one’s who did not have eyes to see.
They
who were blind saw him and responded accordingly and even had their work done;
a work which many who could see couldn’t do.
Who
do you pity now; the blind man who couldn’t see or the many that can see and
yet can’t see; am I one of them?
Lesson:
Look at your abilities and count them, bring them before the Lord and see its
uselessness unless the Lord makes it useful through our submission to him.
Prayer: Jesus,
Son of the living God, have mercy on us.
